The Principal of the firm, Steve Owens was licensed as a Real Estate Agent, Auctioneer and Business Agent in 1975 and in 1977 set up a new office for L J Hooker in Charlestown.

He became a Registered Valuer in 1979 and a NSW Fincom Valuer in 1985. Since that time valuations have been for State and Federal Governments, Solicitors and private individuals in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter, Sydney and State Local Government Areas.

Charlestown Estate Agency Pty Ltd (the holding company), was founded in 1962 and he became a partner in 1986. In 1992 the trading name was changed to Steve Owens Real Estate. This was done to expand the field of operations to offer clients a wider base.

In Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter Steve Owens Real Estate has been actively engaged in sales of all types of Real Estate. In Charlestown alone the office has been involved in 50% of all commercial sales and leasing.

Steve Owens Real Estate has also been involved in valuation, marketing and sales of motels and sub divisions at Valentine, Eleebana and Redhead estates..
